Inside the Dragon
By: Andrew Mangino (Editor-in-Chief)
Jump to Comments8/8/08 is upon us: Today, delegations from over 200 countries gather in Beijing to usher in the XXIX Olympiad. As the world turns expectantly toward China, nine Yale Daily News reporters and photographers are on site to witness and chronicle the spectacular Opening Ceremony — and all that will follow — in an in-depth team-blogging venture unprecedented for a college publication gone abroad.
In fact, these reporters have already posted to our new blog, “Inside the Dragon,” which you can visit at http://yaledailynews.com/blogs/insidethedragon. Entries will focus not as much on the sporting events as on Chinese culture, security, economics, food, preparation, youth, politics and (of course) Yale’s close friendship with the emerging superpower. But, don’t worry, with one current junior and five Yale alumni competing in rowing, sailing and fencing, our reporters cannot possibly overlook the competition itself.
Reporting projects such as “Inside the Dragon” are inspired and driven by reader contributions. So please, don’t hesitate to contact me anytime at editor@yaledailynews.com with ideas of your own. See you in the fall, when more exciting news from the Oldest College Daily will come your way.
Sincerely,
Andrew Mangino
